Nasal immunisation induces rTgUPase-specific sIgA responses in mucosal washes. The sIgA antibody titres in mucosal washes from the mice were tested by ELISAs two weeks after the last immunisation. High-level sIgA in (A) nasal washes, (B) intestinal washes, (C) vaginal washes and (D) vesical washes was induced in the mice nasally immunised with rTgUPase compared to those vaccinated with PBS. The data are expressed as the means of the OD492 ± SD (n = 8) and are representative of three experiments. *p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01 (vaccinated vs. PBS group).
