Abstract
Autogenous ovarian development of Haematopota pluvialis and Hybomitra montana and anautogenous development of Hybomitra caucasica, Philipomyia aprica and Tabanus glaucopis are shown by physiological age studies on alpine horse flies. The fecundity of high altitude species seems higher than in other species.
