Description of the adult stage of Staphylocystis biliarius Villot, 1877 (Cestoda : Hymenolepididae), a parasite of Crocidura russula Hermann, 1780 (Insectivora : Soricidae)

L’inventaire parasitologique de la Musaraigne Crocidura russula en Catalogne (Espagne) nous a permis de récolter de nombreux Hymenolepididés matures considérés comme les adultes de Staphylocystis biliarius Villot, 1877, en raison de la similitude parfaite de l’armature du scolex. L’anatomie de l’adulte de cette espèce, qu’il faut donc nommer Hymenolepis biliarius (Villot, 1877) n. comb., est décrite pour la première fois.
Abstract
The parasitological study of the shrew Crocidura russula from Catalonia (Spain) allowed to collect several mature Hymenolepididae, the scolex framework of which corresponding perfectly to that of the larva Staphylocystis biliarius Villot, 1877. The anatomy of the adult stage of this species, which has to be denominated as Hymenolepis biliarius (Villot, 1877) n. comb., is described for the first time.
