Abstract
The authors report for the first time a natural infection of Leishmania donovani in Phlebotomus ariasi. In August 1972, 12 P. ariasi were collected at Lodève (50 km to the north of Montpellier) where a Leishmania — infected dog had been found 2 months earlier ; two species contained numerous promastigote stages.
