Abstract
The authors describe and figure Androcotyla arenariae n. gen., n. sp., a trematode parasite of the small intestine of the Charadriiform bird Arenaria interpres, from the southeastern coast of the United States (Florida Keys). This form is characterised by the presence of a fleshy male papilla borne upon a vesiculo-prostatic pouch. The combination of the these two characters makes Androcotyla unique and necessitates the creation of the new subfamily Androcotylinae.
