Contribution à l’étude des Microphallidae ; Travassos 1920. Trematoda XX. Megalophallus carcini n. sp., adulte expérimental d’une métacercaire de Carcinus maenas Pennant

Les auteurs décrivent et figurent Megalophallus carcini, espèce nouvelle d’un genre non encore signalé dans l’Ancien Monde. Ils en discutent les affinités, considérant Megalophallus comme un produit de l’évolution des Microphallus, conséquence de la perte de l’enveloppe de la poche vésiculo-prostatique.
Abstract
The authors describe and figure Megalophallus carcini, new species of a genus never reported in Europ. They discuss its affinities, suggesting Megalophallus as a result of Microphallus evolution, consequence of loss of vesiculo-prostatic pouch.
