New article processing charges for Parasite

We would like to inform our authors and the parasitology community that the article processing charges (APCs) for Parasite are increasing to €1200 per paper from 1 February 2022 due to the popularity and increased workload of the journal. This applies to papers of any type or length and includes colour figures if necessary. Indeed, long articles are welcome in Parasite. Authors are invited to submit before 1 February 2022 at the current APC rate of €900 if they are in a position to do so.

For many years, the APCs were held at a reduced rate. Now, in order to manage a growing number of submissions smoothly, it has been decided to adjust the APCs to a level that reflects the stature of the journal. Earlier this year, under the guiding hand of Editor-in-Chief, Jean-Lou Justine, Parasite achieved an impact factor of 3.000 and was awarded the DOAJ Seal for “best practice in open access publishing”.

At the Editor-in-Chief’s discretion, a few partial or total fee waivers can be granted on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, a number of agreements offer discounted or waived APCs (conditions apply) to corresponding authors including those affiliated with:

  • The French National Open Access Agreement
  • The Research4Life programme
  • German academic institutions (Technische Informationsbibliothek)
  • Chinese Academy of Sciences

Parasite is the international, open access journal of the Société Française de Parasitologie which plays an important role in the life of the journal and supports fair APCs. Parasite publishes high quality, peer-reviewed papers on all aspects of human and animal parasitology. Find out more in the instructions for authors.
