Map of South America. The province of Misiones is located in the extreme northeast of Argentina, between Paraguay and Brazil. The city of Oberá is at the center of the province. Misiones shares its eastern border with the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. The former state is known for its high prevalence of ocular toxoplasmosis.
