Abstract
Description of Xericola marocanus gen. n. sp. n., parasite of Atlantoxerus getulus in Morocco. This Brevistriatinae is characterized by a reduced « carène », the presence of a gradient in the length of the ridges on the ventral side, 14 cuticular ridges.
The new genus is the most primitive of the known Brevistriatinae and from a phyletic point of view, is classified between the genera Heligmonella Monnig, 1927 (Heligmonellinae) and Paraheligmonina Durette-Desset, 1971 (Brevistriatinae).
The present biogeographical data on the hosts give a satisfactory explanation of the zoological status given to the parasite.
