Un Acanthocéphale nouveau Wolffhugelia matercula n. gen., n. sp. de l’intestin de Fitzroyia lineata (Jenyns) (Poisson) en Uruguay(1)
A new Acanthocephala Wolffhugelia matercula n. gen. n. sp. from the intestine of Fitzroyia lineata (Jenyns) (Fish) in Uruguay.

Les auteurs signalent la présence fréquente dans l’intestin d’un poisson Cyprinodonti-forme, Fitzroyia lineata, vivant dans les eaux saumâtres du Rio de la Plata, d’un Acanthocéphale Neoechinorhynchidae appartenant à la sous-famille des Gracilisentinae, famille dont le seul genre connu est Gracilisentis.
Les exemplaires récoltés possèdent des caractères nettement différents de ceux de Gracilisentis, en particulier dans la disposition et la taille des crochets du proboscis, justifiant ainsi la création d’un genre nouveau, Wolffhugelia, dédié au Pr Kurt Wolffhügel. Les auteurs décrivent cette forme nouvelle et en donnent la diagnose. Ils la désignent sous le nom de Wolffhugelia matercula.
Abstract
The authors find frequently in the intestines of a brackish water fish, Fitzroyia lineata, in the Rio de la Plata, an Acanthocephala belonging to the subfamily Gracilisentinae the only known genus of which is Gracilisentis.
The specimens collected had quite different characters from those of Gracilisentis, especially in dimensions and disposition of the proboscis hooks. A new genus, Wolffhugelia, is proposed and dedicated to Professor Kurt Wolffhügel. A description and diagnosis is given for this new form named Wolffhugelia matercula.
